Airplane WiFi can be cyberattacked and what chaos would result?

Imagine if you can half the people on a flight betting messages on their wifi enabled device saying war had broken out, or a nuclear attack had taken place, or a virulent biowar bug had been released?

Would there be chaos on that airplane? How about if it happened on 2,000 airplanes at once (there are at least 4,000 wifi capable passenger planes in the air at all times.

The most common  Inmarsat and Iridium SATCOM terminals are all vulnerable to cyber attack.

The 2018 Blackhat hacker convention included a presentation by IoActive showing SATCOM systems in a number of regions can be compromised and false messages sent to those using WiFi on many airplanes.
